CMVR certification

Introduction

CMVR (Central Motor Vehicles Rules) is the Central Motor Vehicles Act of India. In 1988, the Indian Parliament approved the Motor Vehicles Act, which provides general control over vehicles such as motor vehicle registration and traffic control. The Central Motor Vehicle Act came into effect in 1989, requiring motor vehicles and their components to apply for Type Approval (TAC) under the CMVR Act before entering the Indian market

The scope of mandatory vehicle certification under the CMVR Act includes: two and three wheeled vehicles, four wheeled passenger and freight vehicles (M1, N1), light and heavy commercial vehicles (M2, M3, N2, N3), agricultural tractors, cultivators, trailers, combine harvesters, engineering equipment vehicles (CEVs), road engineering machinery, engines, CNG/LPG vehicles, electric vehicle BOVs, and diesel gasoline generators.

The mandatory certification scope of components under the CMVR Act includes: car positioning systems with emergency call buttons, safety glass, brake hoses, horn tires, CNC pressure regulators, LPG evaporators (for pressure regulation, light bulbs, rearview mirrors, speed limiters, seat belts, wheels, lighting and signaling devices, reflex reflectors, warning triangles, fuel tanks, reflective strips, replaceable LED light source child seats, brake pads, power batteries, helmets, seats and headrests, automotive electronics, coupling devices, driving recorders, splash proof devices, wiper blades, etc.).
